RetailSelect beter te vinden in Google

Leuk!

The value is in the links, not in the nodes.

Thomas launched her business with only $10. Her advice included:

a.. Start a business that used their current skills or interests to
prevent boredom.

b.. Search for a niche so their business would stand out from the crowd.

c.. Don’t invest a lot of money to start their business. They should only
purchase what they needed to run their business and attract clients. If they
didn’t have a computer, they could go to a Kinkos or a friend’s house to
print their own stationary and initial business cards. Instead of getting a
second phone line installed, they should get a ring master number from their
telephone company so they would be able to identify business calls.

d.. Use PR to publicize their business and invest in advertising once they
started generating paying clients.

Persberichten schrijven

TheGaggleHouse biedt betaalbare werkplekken in representatieve omgeving.
- Maandelijks opzegbaar
- Lage vaste lasten (EUR 47 per maand)
- Receptie voor ontvangst van klanten
- Intranet
- Mobiel internet

Tevens aanvullende mogelijkheden met telefoonbeantwoordservice, vergaderruimte, etc.

Create a future you would like to be part of

I forgot the source, it was probably a book I read when I was in Romania with my sister. Trying to shape a new future for her and for myself. I wrote down these questions to help me focus on my new life.

What do you want your life to look like in 1 year?

What do you want your life to look like in 3 years?

What is your inspiring and compelling vision for the future? For your business? For your personal life?

I never got to ask the questions. I do think they can help me now to look forward, to create a future that I do want to experience and live.

Create your vision

I received this article in Alicia Forest’s always inspiring e-zine. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Next to that I hope it inspires you to take charge of creating your future.

Imagineer Your Success
by Alicia M. Forest, MBA
Multiple Streams Queen & Coach(TM)

One of the strategies I teach to PULL your business forward, almost effortlessly, is to create a powerful vision for your business. My private clients have found this exercise to be both motivating and inspiring, and I’m certain you will too.

Once a year, I take a short retreat to work on revising my vision for my business (and my life). This is an annual break I take away from my business (but with my family, although some of my clients prefer to go it alone, which is perfectly fine) to really think about and decide what I want the next 1 to 3 years to look like. I write my vision and I create a whole bunch of goals for my business. I also use this time to talk with my husband about my vision and goals. He is a great sounding board for all the ideas I come up with… and we usually have this conversation while hanging out on the beach… :)

Being near the water definitely has some powerfully positive effects on my brain, and I always come away from this retreat with a renewed sense of energy and passion for my work. (This was my view at this year’s retreat in Aruba – breathtaking, isn’t it?)

Creating a powerful vision is your first step on your path to imagineering your own success. Knowing where you are going will make the journey that much easier and faster, as well as simply more enjoyable.

Here are two steps to get you started…

Step 1: Book your retreat
Book a 2-3 day retreat so that you can work intensively on your detailed 1 to 3 year vision. Get a very clear picture of where you intend to be 3 years from now. Book the time to do this. Make the commitment now.

I have booked the following dates for my vision retreat:________________.

Step 2: While on your retreat, answer the following questions:
What do you want your life to look like in 1 year? In 3 years?
What is your inspiring and compelling vision for the future?
For your business? For your personal life?

The truth is that you can design the perfect life and you can design the perfect business. How does it sound to you to be earning 6-figures a year, working less than part-time? It doesn’t have to be just a dream – it is most definitely achievable. It won’t happen overnight, but – with some planning and hard work – it can be a reality sooner than you think.

A few notes for your vision retreat:

You don’t have to go (far) away to go on your retreat. Go wherever you feel most creative and inspired, and where you are least likely to be interrupted.

Some people think and write better in silence, while others think and write better when there is a lot going on around them. Choose whatever works for you.

Before you begin to write, close your eyes and really see in your mind’s eye how you want your entire life to be. For example, see your dream home. Is it a large home or something more cozy? Do you live on the ocean or near the mountains? Or are you in a fantastic apartment in the middle of NYC? Write about it in detail – and don’t hold back! Do the same for your business: Do you want a waiting list of clients? Or do you want to stop working one-on-one and move to working with groups only? Do you want to implement at least three new streams of income? Do you want to write your first print book? Do this for all the other parts of your life as well – for the tangible things (like your home, your car, your vacations, etc.) to the intangible (like who you want in your life, how you will give back, etc.).

Get the picture? Once you have written your vision, I promise you’ll be really excited and motivated towards making that vision your reality!

Google adsense matches content

Yes, it works!
For one moment I was thinking that the Google adverts on the right weren’t actually functioning. But it really did! I have earned an amazing USD 0.78 until today, for three clicks!

Okay, it is money that is easily earned. But I guess not many people are interested in the adverts. If the effects stays the same in the coming months, I will delete the adverts to use the space for a better goal.

To be clear, I am not impressed by the earnings of Google Adsense. Although my blogs are frequently matched with interesting ads.

Podcasting is hot

Did you have your own iPod already? I do and I am planning to have iPod docking stations everywhere in my new house. Totally cool.

iPods are hot worldwide:
* over 16 million people purchased iPods over Christmas,
* there was an unprecedented surge in podcast downloads during the last week of the year (after everyone opened their presents)
* there are 60 million people forecasted to be downloading podcasts by the year 2010 (that’s only 4 years away…).

Time to start your own personal Podcasts. I would like to hear your story, hear about your passion. When do you have it available?

Idea-a-day posts olympic idea

Idea A Day
Where Ideas Are Free
Welcome to Day 1999

Invent an Olympic event that is decided once all competitors are at the Games. The event would not be one that any of the athletes will have trained for and all athletes may participate if they feel they have a chance of winning. Events might include ’50 meters hop’, ‘throwing scrunched up paper balls into small baskets’ or ‘running to a changing beat’.

Do you suffer from Domain-Registration-Addiction?

Or shortened as DRA? I still don’t suffer, but I do register frequently domain names that I think will be a super new start-up if I just find the time to get it going. Sometimes I start working on some domainnames, like I started working on www.aupairnet.nl in december 2005 after registering the domain in december 2004. The domainname is a hit, as I get about 250 visitors each day, but the content is not working yet. Still looking for someone or partnering with someone who thinks this is it and wants to make it work. Anyway, I am wondering who are the biggest DRA-addicts, as I guess many people suffer in silence ;-)

Why am I blogging about my Google rank?

In this blog I keep track of my Google rank search on my name ‘Marieke’. As it is becoming a habit for more and more people to search and track information about your next possible client or partner by Google. It is called ego-surfing by Businessknowledgesource.com, I like the word. :-)

There is great importance of raising your profile by writing online and establish an online presence, with an online profile on Ecademy, LinkedIn or OpenBC.

10% of all internet searches are for proper names and I am sure this number will raise.

No talent-management at KLM

What??? Leo van Wijk, who is the CEO of KLM, is talking about their ‘so-called’ great talent-management within KLM. I just read this article today in ManagementTeam – Business Topic. Well, I guess so for managers on the ground, but no way there is any support, talent management, coaching or growth plan for talented pilots.

I will share with you that my husband has been an airline pilot for KLM Boeing 747-400 for almost 8 years. He has just quit his job there, mainly because his IT companies challenge him more than being a KLM-busdriver-in-the-air.

What I have always found peculiar about KLM, is their focus on managers in the head office.
Pilots are there, but there is no support from the ground in anyway to give pilots a better perspective, etc. So, if Leo is talking about talent-management, he is sure not talking about talent-management for pilots.

Management of KLM always felt good about giving high salaries to their pilots, which is mainly to substitute for the more important things that are missing when working as a pilot. But when a reorganization is needed for KLM, first thing to save money on, are the wages for pilots. Due to the believe that pilots earn a-lot-of-money, and ‘looks’ like the big money is going there.

Actually what these pilots need, is support and a better relationship between ground managers and pilots. Pilots are on an island, and it hardly happens that pilots actually meet managers on the ground for whatever reason.

Talking to other pilots who are working for KLM for some time already, shows that money is what is keeping them there. They have only learned one trick, which is flying and, if they don’t like it anymore, they can’t change it, as they would have to dramatically change their lifestyle as well.

These pilots still are responsible people and feel responsible, but enjoying work a little more due to more support from within the company, could make this a winner. And could result in an attractive company to work for and to fly with. It’s the people who make the company. It’s the crew that makes the flight, including the pilots!

Check out your weblogs worth

Dane Carlson came up with a supercool tool to calculate how much your weblog is worth if you would like to sell it. Just type in your url and it automatically figures out how much it is worth. This is based on the number of links to your weblog. It looks like it doesn’t take the quality of links into calculation, but anyway – it is great to try.

A little succes story is the Networking Blogspot I am writing for as one of the bloggers.

Let’s see how much money we can make out of this. Oh, my blog isn’t worth anything yet, so if you’d like to help me to track to www.mariekehensel.nl I would be delighted!

How to be personal -and- grow your business

In the world of today it looks like we are having two options in building a business. Or we choose to stay a small company and have a good personal relationship with everyone or we decide we want to grow our business and start loosing the personal touch our business has.

Mainly because companies are on 2 different tracks:

1. We do everything ourselves

2. We hire a great team and get out of our own business

How can you grow your business in numbers of customers and financially instead of hiring a team to do everything for you?

Start with your own passion, your talents and see how you could be more doing that and less doing things you don’t like. For example, if I have a webshop, I love to talk to my customers, but I don’t like to put everything in envelopes and send it out. Why not partner up with someone who loves to mail out packages and personalized envelopes (there are many creative mail senders in the SWAP-society).

Have fun doing your passion, and share the other jobs with people who are passionate about that!

Start your business: NOW!

I am in a project now which is taking the hurdle of getting a name. Agreeing about a name with 4 people can be a hell-of-a-job.

Now there is a website to not only find a name quickly, but also the business plan that could go with it. Create your web 2.0 company now (for internet profs only) :-)

3/4/5 star living

I am waiting for that to happen.
It is a kind of community living, but better…

I will explain: your appartment building is next to a hotel and you can use, while at home, the ammenities of the hotel. So swimming pool, room service is all within reach. Life is great, isn’t it?

See the trend, written by Trendwatching.com

They are building a new way of living in Amsterdam (at least… for Amsterdam it is new) :-) Anyway, the buildings are called Boston and Detroit and they are great to live in!
