My Website now wears Polkadots, and yours?

Website in PolkadotsI just had to do something about it.
Something about this site.

This site is already 7 years old. I started it in 2005 and after I found it, I have always been loyal to WordPress.

I was pretty active blogging in 2005 and 2006. You could consider them experiments at that time, but they supported my social networking at the time. And my journey in search engine optimization.

And then, periods of abandonment came. I posted on average a blog post a year. Yeah, I am not proud of it. But it started when my company site started in 2006. My focus shifted and this presence was getting ignored.

Not by everyone, www.mariekehensel.nl was the first site that popped up when people typed in my name. And that is not a great first impression. I sure wasn’t proud of it.

And now it’s finally time.
It’s like that moment when you don’t fit into your favorite jeans anymore; you know its time to loose some weight. For me, it is time to stop ignoring and change my site into a new outfit.

How do you like my orange polkadots?

Who can beat that?

  1. I like the new rags! Orange you glad you changed skins? (LOL!)

Seriously, I think design can psychologically put you in the right place to write. Your look and feel sets the tone for the site and your writing now has a happy, upbeat place to live and thrive.

  2. Ha ha! :-) Yeah you are very right! Now my blog makes me happy again! I see you share the love for orange dots (in combination with green dots). Friends? ;-)

  3. I think it looks good! If it were me I’d add a subtle border to encase the content column, but that’s just me. At the same time, it is kinda cool how the white simply flows from the polka dotted section into the body of the page. Good Job!

  4. Marieke, I giggled right out loud when I read,

“It’s like that moment when you don’t fit into your favorite jeans anymore; you know its time to loose some weight. For me, it is time to stop ignoring and change my site into a new outfit.”

I’m looking forward to witnessing how this continues to unfold for you. I love the polka dots and the fun, playful feel!

  5. Thank you Janet! My next step is to rewrite the pages. Most content is 6 years old – I can’t believe that its been that long!

  6. Totally retro-modern! I agree a border would probably be good for a little structure. I know what you mean about time going by. There are so many things that should be updated and part of the problem is that there are SO many things! Now I have to go check my site out (:::guilt:::). Thanks for the inspiration. And the cheerful polka dots!

  7. You probably require a refresher around the useful tips every online company owner should
find out about. Businesses are to heavily dependant
upon customers for his or her survival, without customers a small business would cease to exist.

If you’re still at a loss, you are able to contact the client
care team either by email, live chat, or phone during standard west coast business
    hours.
